5 Local Brands to Shop Sustainability

By Chloe Konrad | February 24, 2022 | Style & Beauty

These local shops offer a range of sustainable practices, eco-friendly materials and serious style.

Nicole Spear was inspired to create METTA GOOD when her son was born in 2016. The brand creates high-quality lip balms—the recipes took her more than two years to perfect— face masks and body care products. Behind all of the brand’s products is a love for nature, one that shows up in the small-batch and sustainable techniques METTA GOOD uses. Spear also ensures that her company purchases local, sustainable, fair-trade ingredients. Another brand mission: donating a percentage of proceeds to nonprofits.

On the lips

Raised on a farm in California, between almond trees and horses, Nicole Spear has transferred her love for nature into an "ethical" lip balm brand: based on organic,
local and from fair trade supply chains. This, in short, is METTA GOOD.
